Fifty Shades of Silver - Vintage geode ring
I have a passion for uncovering the hidden potential in pre-loved pieces, turning them from tired treasures into lovable gems once more. In this post, I’ll be sharing the refurbishment of a vintage geode ring, a bold piece that’s bursting with character!
During my days of sourcing unique and often quirky items, I've always seen potential in each piece, no matter how worn or neglected it may appear. With every refurbishment, I approach the task with care and passion, taking both the structure and stone content into consideration. It’s all about restoring these treasures to highlight their original charm. Watch me bring this beauty back to life!
BEFORE
Can you see the potential in this ring?
Goodness knows how long this ring had been sitting unloved. It was grimy, dusty and rather scratched up. On the plus side, I could tell by the number of abrasions that it had once been well worn and loved. These photos capture the starting point of its transformation. The first task was to tackle the amethyst geode, which needed a good cleaning to remove the built-up grime and dust. Then I addressed the scratches and abrasions.
I love the bold crown-style setting.
AFTER
Wow! Now that is certainly preloved to reloved. It is amazing what a little TLC can do.
I hope you enjoyed this little insight into what I have been doing for 12 years.
